Emmanuel Afentoulis

Emmanuel Afentoulis, Executive Chef of Skamania Lodge brings with him a wide range of expertise in the culinary arts and 28 years of experience in restaurants, hotels and resorts throughout North America.

In keeping with the unspoiled natural environment and rustic ambiance of the 254-room resort, Chef Afentoulis's menus highlight the flavorful, seasonal and diversified bounty of the region and use the dining room's massive wood-burning display oven to develop signature items.

Afentoulis relocated to the Pacific Northwest from Northern California where he was an owner and Executive Chef at Marlowe's Restaurant & Club and previously served as Executive Chef at Silverado Country Club, both located in Napa.

His prior hotel experience includes Executive Chef positions with Hilton Hotels in Myrtle Beach, Atlanta and St. Louis and a variety of positions, including Executive Sous Chef at Sheraton and Queen Elizabeth Hotels, both in Montreal, Canada.

Edward J. Tippel III

Born and raised in New York City, Edward J. Tippel III started experimenting in the kitchen at an early age. He attended The Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park and graduated with an Associates Degree in 1990.

Edward worked at a few different properties including Mountain Manor, Durows of New York, and SkyTop Lodge in Pennsylvania before relocating to Washington State. He was hired as a Banquet Chef at Skamania Lodge in 1997 and has since been developing his skills to prepare for advancement to the Executive Sous Chef position, which he was promoted to in June of 2006.
