A Woman Alone
Mona Bell, Sam Hill and the Mansion at Bonneville Rock is the biographical portrait of a truly remarkable modern-day pioneer woman and early feminist, Mona Bell. She fought a legal battle with the federal government in the state of Oregon, when the Army commandeered her hilltop mansion and surrounding riverfront acreage in Columbia River Gorge to build Bonneville Dam. A huntress of considerable skill and marksmanship, she was once arrested in Kenya for going into the bush without a white hunter, and embarked on the same pursuit in Uganda. But she preferred to shoot big game with a camera rather than weapons. She traveled the world on her own, and her adventurous life would later cause her daughter-in-law to say about her, "She was a woman alone, and she was OK with it." A one-of-a-kind true story about a one-of-a-kind woman.
