Summer Fun Group Ideas in The Columbia River Gorgephoto

There seems to be a common thread with the upcoming Insurance or Finance group events coming to Skamania Lodge this summer; teambuilding and recreation time.  Anywhere from an hour to ½ the day, these groups are putting up the expense and effort of bringing people together for personal experiences and fun, especially in a setting as lovely as Skamania Lodge located in the Columbia River Gorge!

The Columbia River Gorge has been designated by the United States as a National Scenic Area, which runs along the Columbia River between the Deschutes and Sandy Rivers. I have lived near the Columbia River, which acts as the border between Washington and Oregon, and the Gorge my whole life and like many of us, I take for granted what is right in my own back yard.  I am making it my mission to enjoy the area with my family this summer as if I am visitor.  I feel sometimes the groups we welcome to Skamania Lodge get out and do more than I do, and I live here!  The Gorge is known for so many wonderful things, such as cherries, apples, wine, waterfalls (over 70 near Skamania Lodge), wildflowers, hiking, windsurfing, microbreweries, fishing, boating, salmon, golfing, mountain biking and kayaking just to name a few.  Summer is our time to shine as it rarely gets above 90°and the humidity is very low, making the outdoors the place to be in July, August and September.

I am going to take notes from my various meeting planners’ excursions for their attendee’s by enjoying our area this summer and taking advantage of the following activities:

This lodge is one of the friendliest places I know. Everyone seems to genuinely enjoy working there and doing whatever they can to assist the guests.
