Cheers for Beers at Skamania Lodge’s Beer Weekend
Oh yeah. It’s officially beer festival season.
Oh yeah. It’s officially beer festival season. Celebrate the almighty process of fermentation at Skamania Lodge’s inaugural Celebration of Beer Weekend, being held October 24 & 25th. You’re probably asking yourself, where the hell is Skamania Lodge? We did too, until we moved to the great Evergreen State and honed our lodge knowledge.
Think Columbia River Gorge mountain lodge meets Northern Exposure environs less than an hour east of Portland, OR. (The hit series early 90’s was actually filmed about three hours from the Stevenson, WA resort.) The Pacific Northwest may still be figuring out a few things when it comes to winemaking (Pinot freaks in Willamette Valley excluded), but has nailed the art of craft-brewing.
Beer geeks and aspiring enthusiasts can sample more than a dozen of the region’s best breweries over the hop-fueled fall weekend. The try before you buy dynamic is especially useful for someone like us who is always daunted when facing the obscene number of microbrew options in the beer aisle at any Pacific Northwest grocery store

Highlights of the weekend’s festivities include Skamania Lodge Beer Cup Challenge (a nine-hole tournament), a Make Your Own Beer seminar with Mike Rumlow of Wy-East, a Beer-Battered and Beer-Boiled Seafood Buffet, and Kegs and Eggs (a Bloody Mary with a beer chaser is the hangover breakfast of beer-guzzling champions). Of course, there will be extensive tasting opportunities with a special emphasis on seasonal and unreleased brews.
Breweries are still being lined-up for the weekend, but as of now, expect the following Washington and Oregon breweries to be on hand: Amnesia Brewing (Portland, Ore.); Double Mountain Brewery and Taproom (Hood River, Ore.); Full Sail Brewing (Hood River, Ore.); Laht Neppur Brewing Co. (Waitsburg, Wash.); Lazy Boy Brewing (Everett, Wash.); Salmon Creek Brewery and Pub (Vancouver, Wash.); Walking Man Brewing (Stevenson, Wash.); Yakima Craft Brewing Co. (Yakima, Wash.).
Rates for the Celebration of Beer Weekend package start at $237, exclusive of lodge fee, tax and gratuities. For more information, call (800) 221-7117 or visit here.
