FALL INTO SKAMANIA LODGE’S ANNUAL HARVEST FESTIVAL
Weekend Features Family-Friendly Activities and Vendors from Columbia River Gorge
Join Skamania Lodge in welcoming the arrival of autumn with its annual Fall Harvest Festival Friday, October 22 to Sunday, October 24, 2010. Skamania Lodge will host a variety of Columbia River Gorge farmers and craft vendors for live demonstrations, contests and children’s activities including pumpkin and face painting, hay rides, apple bobbing and a petting zoo.
The Fall Harvest Festival begins with a special Gorge Harvest Buffet on Friday evening featuring local vendors’ products followed by Skamania Lodge’s Harvest Market on Saturday, October 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Festivities throughout Saturday include a special cooking demonstration with Skamania Lodge Chef Ed Tippel, a wine tasting hosted by Maryhill Winery of Glendale, Wash., a cocktail creation demonstration with local drink specialists and an evening reception at the property’s fire pit.
Skamania Lodge will serve a special menu in The Cascade Room throughout the weekend with dishes that celebrate the bounty of the season. Highlighted menu items include:
- Applewood Smoked Steelhead with black lentils, tasso ham and horseradish crème fraiche
- Organic Baby Spinach Salad with Hood River Asian pears, Rogue River blue cheese, walnut brittle and a roasted pear vinaigrette
- Kurobuta Tenderloin of Pork, cider and bourbon brined with sweet potato and pearl onion hash
- Muscovy Duck Breast with huckleberry corn cakes and blackberry port reduction
- Prime Grade New York Strip Steak with lobster and black truffle mashed potatoes and a roasted garlic confit
- Oat-Crusted Rainbow Trout with rosti potatoes, cranberry pecan relish and roasted corn and shallot emulsion
