INVASION OF MONSTERS EXPECTED AT SKAMANIA LODGE DURING SPRING BREAK
Third Literary Event Features New York Times Best-Selling Author Nina Hess
Stevenson, Wash. - (March 10, 2010) - Skamania Lodge, an all-season mountain resort in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, announces its third Bed & Book-fest event, featuring local author Nina Hess, on Saturday, March 27 from 2-4 p.m. Hess will host a reading of her popular book, “A Practical Guide to Monsters,” as well as lead a monster-making workshop that encourages creativity in children and allows them to design their own monsters. The activity will also include a milk and cookie reception with the author.Â
“Skamania Lodge’s family-friendly amenities make it a popular location during the Spring Break holiday,” said Scott Spann, general manager for Skamania Lodge. “Working with Nina Hess allows us to offer a creative activity for our younger guests to enjoy.”Â
Hess’ book, “A Practical Guide to Monsters,” debuted at number three on the New York Times bestseller list. The book is a fully illustrated overview of fantasy monsters from zombies and ghouls to mythological and fantastical creatures. Hess is a Seattle-based children’s book editor and author of several early readers including “Whose Feet?” from the Step into Reading Series.Â
Skamania Lodge’s Bed & Book-fest series is produced in collaboration with Kim Ricketts Book Events, a Seattle-based company connecting people, stories and ideas through author hosted events.Â
