SKAMANIA LODGE CELEBRATES FALL WITH ANNUAL HARVEST MARKET WEEKEND
For the second year, Skamania Lodge, located in the heart of the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, will welcome fall with its annual Harvest Market Weekend.
From Friday, October 21, through Sunday, October 23, visitors and lodge guests will have the opportunity to sample great local cuisine as well as purchase meats, produce, wines, beers and crafts directly from local farmers, wine makers, brewers and artisans at the Harvest Market held on Saturday.
The weekend will kick off on Friday night with a Gorge Harvest Dinner at which locally grown produce and regional cuisine will be featured and served in the Lodge’s signature Cascade Dining Room. Chef James Boheim will incorporate many of the regionally grown and raised products that will be sold the next day by local farmers and ranchers at the Harvest Market.
On Saturday, the lodge’s Cascade Lawn will be teeming with fun activities for young and old alike. The cornerstone event of the weekend will be the Harvest Market, which will showcase products from local food vendors including:
- J&K Growers (vegetables);
- Hood River Fruit and Produce;
- Northwest Premier Meats;
- Ryan’s Fruit Juice;
- Sasquatch Coffee;
- Sweet Things by Julie (brownies, pies, toffee); and
- White Oak Woodland (greens and garlic).
In addition to the food vendors, local artisans will display and sell one-of-a-kind crafts and provide demonstrations. These include:
- Mudslinger’s Pottery;
- Stefan Vincze Wood Carving;
- Lori Presthus Jewelry ; and
- Vancouverture (Wood Carvings).
Â
There also will be lots of activities for children of all ages. Throughout the day, families can bob for apples, enjoy a ride on a hay truck, make caramel apples, and get in the spirit of Halloween with face and pumpkin painting. For adults, there will be wine and beer tastings, cooking demonstrations by Chef Boheim, cocktail demonstrations by a local mixologist, all capped off by sipping hot toddies by the glow of the Lodge’s fire pit.
