SKAMANIA LODGE GOLF COURSE EARNS FAMILY CERTIFICATION BY PGA
Free Rounds and Custom Tee Boxes Encourage Golf for Kids and Adults
Stevenson, Wash. – (May 24, 2011) – Skamania Lodge, an all-season mountain resort located in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, is excited to announce that it has been named an Official Family Golf Course by the PGA. Family Golf Courses encourage children to play alongside parents in a deliberate, enjoyable environment that allows players of all abilities to improve various facets of their game.
“To be recognized by the PGA as an Official Family Golf Course is a tremendous honor,” said Guy Puddefoot, onsite PGA professional and director of golf at Skamania Lodge. “Not only does it give the course credibility among golfing families, it shows our commitment to our role as positive ambassadors to the game.”
Skamania Lodge is one of 11 PGA Official Family Courses in Washington state. The Golf Course at Skamania Lodge features a number of family friendly components including custom tee boxes for novice golfers, family tee times after 4 p.m., and free golf rounds for children with a paying adult.
The PGA Family Course Program is part of the Play Golf America growth-of-the-game initiative. It was established in 2004 in hopes of encouraging parents and children to golf together. The program allows players of all levels to become acclimated with the sport, as well as promote the development of the game as a whole.
The Skamania Lodge Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-70 course located on the resort’s 175 wooded acres. Boasting breathtaking views of the Pacific Northwest landscape, the Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Golf Course’s services include a driving range, practice bunker, chipping and putting greens, full-service golf shop, cart rentals and an onsite staff of PGA professionals. Rated as a four-star course by Golf Digest magazine in its 2008 “Best Places to Play,” and named by Golf for Women magazine as one of the “Top 100 Courses” in 2009, the Golf Course at Skamania Lodge provides an enticing challenge to experienced players. For more information about the Golf Course and to view a course map, visit www.skamania.com.
