SKAMANIA LODGE HOSTS THIRD ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF BEER WEEKEND
Beer lovers will get to taste more than 30 beers served up by Northwest breweries
Back by popular demand for the third year, Skamania Lodge will once again be hosting a weekend full of fun events celebrating the Pacific Northwest’s outstanding craft beers and breweries. With the beautiful Columbia River Gorge as the setting, this year’s Celebration of Beer Weekend, which will be held on October 8 and 9, will feature more than 33 beers from 11 regional breweries.
“The Celebration of Beer Weekend is quickly becoming a Gorge tradition and this year we’re expecting it to be better than ever,” said Scott Spann, general manager at Skamania Lodge. “The Northwest’s craft beers are among the best in the world and deserve to be showcased.”

Just a few of the featured breweries at this year’s event include:
- Amnesia Brewing from Portland, Ore.
- Full Sail Brewing from Seattle, Wash.
- Laht Neppur Brewing Company from Waitsburg, Wash.
- Lompoc Brewing from Portland, Ore.
- Prodigal Son from Pendleton, Ore.
- Salmon Creek Brewery from Vancouver, Wash.
- Snipes Mountain from Sunnyside, Wash.
- Yakima Craft Brewing from Yakima, Wash.

Following an afternoon of beer tasting, the Lodge will be serving up a special Oktoberfest Dinner Buffet, featuring delicious and hearty autumn dishes made with regional ingredients. A sampling of the items being served includes:
- Cheesy ale soup
- Beer cider brined pork loin stuffed with cherries and toasted hazelnuts
- Beer bacon cheddar dumplings with chicken
- Red wine braised beef with caramelized onions
- Braised leeks with Penn Cove mussels

The following is the full schedule of the activities being held on Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9, 2011.
Saturday, October 8, 2011
Noon – 1 p.m.
Beer School: Full Sail Brewery Head Brewer Jamie Emerson will be the featured speaker. His topic: “What makes beer taste so good?”
1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Cheers for Beers: Beer tastings served by brewers from across the Pacific Northwest.
Between 3 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. the brewers will be rolling out their seasonal and unreleased beers. Attendees can vote for their favorites.
Price: $1 per tasting ticket; $20 for 20 tickets and a mug; $40 for 50 tickets and two mugs. Tickets can be used to purchase beer tastings as well as food served at the Beer Fest Tent.
5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Oktoberfest Dinner Buffet: A sumptuous and hearty buffet featuring dishes made from many of the beers featured at Cheers for Beers. Served in the Lodge’s beautiful Cascade Dining Room.
Price: $34.95, plus tax and gratuity.

9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Kegs and Eggs Buffet: Guests can enjoy the Lodge’s popular Sunday brunch featuring traditional favorites plus a sampling of new Pacific Northwest recipes.
Price: $30.95, plus tax and gratuity.
