SKAMANIA LODGE TREATS DADS RIGHT ON FATHER'S DAY
Pacific Northwest resort offers traditional brunch, golf and weekend getaways
Skamania Lodge, an all-season mountain resort in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts, invites families to celebrate Father's Day with a traditional brunch buffet.
"The old cliche says that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, and our traditional Father's Day brunch helps families say I love you to the special men in their lives," said Scott Spann, general manager of Skamania Lodge. "Skamania Lodge provides the opportunity for families to relax together with brunch, a round of golf or a weekend getaway."
The Father's Day Brunch, held in The Cascade Room on Sunday, June 21, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., features a selection of breakfast and lunch offerings. Menu highlights include:
- Starters
- Dungeness crab and shrimp with mignonette, cocktail and remoulade sauces
- Goat cheese with tapenade, toasted garlic and grilled pita bread
- Steamed prawns with lemon, cocktail sauce and oyster shooters
- Salads
- Summer organic greens with assorted dressings
- Marinated tomatoes and fresh buffalo mozzarella with basil and extra virgin olive oil
- Green bean salad with roasted crimini mushrooms and Oregon blue cheese
- Carving station
- Traditional potlatch salmon with chipotle aioli and remoulade sauce
- Slow roasted prime rib with herb au jus
- Entrees
- Cheese blintzes with fruit marmalade
- Sesame crusted roasted pork loin with sun-dried cherries, pistachios and braised cabbage
- Penne pasta alfredo with prosciutto, forest mushrooms, shallots and kefalotiri cheese
- Beef pot pie with pearl onions, mushrooms, green peas and Tillamook cheddar dumplings
- Pastries
- Chocolate eclairs and strawberries dipped in chocolate
- Creme brulee, profiteroles, kataifi
- Seasonal berries sabayon
Guests may book a round of golf for dad and the whole family at the Golf Course at Skamania Lodge, an 18-hole, par-70 course located on the resort's 175 wooded acres. Boasting breathtaking views of the Pacific Northwest landscape, the golf course services include a driving range, practice bunker, chipping and putting greens, full-service golf shop, cart rentals and an onsite staff of PGA professionals. Recently rated as a four-star course by Golf Digest magazine in their 2008 "Best Places to Play," and named by Golf for Women magazine as one of the "Top 100 Courses" in 2007, the Golf Course at Skamania Lodge provides an enticing challenge to experienced players.
For families who wish to squeeze in a little golf before or after brunch, the Skamania 3-, 6- or 9-Hole Challenge Loop allows golfers to play the most scenic and challenging holes in a variety of different formats: team relay, speed golf, alternate shot, Skamaniac-style or standard. Ranging from thirty minutes to two hours of playing time, these Challenge Loops are the perfect way to squeeze a little golf into a hectic schedule.
Prices for the Father's Day Brunch are $38.95 for adults, $18.95 for children ages eight to 12, and $11.95 for children ages four to seven. To make brunch reservations, please call (800) 221-7117.
