Let’s face it, weddings are stressful. And brides can be crazy. It is ok to admit it. I remember my wedding and how the closer it got to the actual day, the fuller my crazy tank got. So let’s talk about a couple ways to make sure you keep the inner bridezilla in check so she doesn’t go full on nuclear meltdown.
- Remember all the help – It is easy to forget that there are likely tons of family and friends who are giving up their personal time to help make your wedding as special as possible. Remember these folks when your anxiety levels start to rise. It is no fun to yell at the people who are doing their best to make you shine.
- Take a break – Seriously, it sounds simple, but taking a break is a great way to relieve stress. It is natural to feel more panicked as the big day approaches, but try to plan in mandatory down time. Trust me, it will help so much if you can take a day or two and have some planned relaxation. The key word is planned. If you build it into your schedule, you won’t be sacrificing time that you could be spending doing other wedding-related activities.
- Don’t do it all yourself – Budgets are always a concern in weddings. What a lot of people don’t often think about is the value of sanity. Sometimes it makes much more sense to pay a bit extra to have a professional do something you were planning on doing yourself. For example, I have heard of a bride that made elaborate centerpieces for the reception by hand that took more than five full weekends to complete. In the end, the bride was tired, stressed and only saved a few hundred bucks.
