Show Me The Wedding Sourcesphoto

First comes the engagement, then comes mass Google searches, piles of Bridal Magazines on the coffee table, email updates on wedding trends, clipping of Michael's coupons from the Sunday paper, attendance at every bridal show between Seattle and Eugene and let's face it, you don't have time for all that, you're trying to plan a wedding! So let me give it to you straight, here are the best of the best resources that you can tap into so you're not out hundreds and you still get all the information you need.

PRINT: Real Simple Weddings~ estimated cost $13.95 Yes, it is a little steep for a magazine, but it is so much more than just a magazine, it is a full planner! I picked up the 2010 issue and was amazed at the great timelines to keep on track during your planning, little details to remember at every step and real advice that makes sense. I don't always agree with what the magazines and planners say, but those folks over at Real Simple know what they are talking about when it comes to putting it all together. Bonus! With the purchase of the magazine, you get a years subscription to Real Simple!
Oregon Bride Magazine~ estimated cost $5.99 & Portland Bride & Groom~ estimated cost $5.99 Any print that will provide you with local vendors, local weddings and local advice is always a good print. These two semi-annual publications will give you the best knowledge of Portland and surrounding areas to help with your planning. Plus they have amazing sections about real weddings in the area!

ONLINE: www.TheKnot.com: The Knot has it all figured out providing you with information on every aspect of your wedding and every aspect there after (with their TheNest.com and TheBump.com).
www.Weddingwire.com: Wedding Wire is a site that helps you to find vendors in your area. They provide "storefronts" for you to browse through all the vendors and read reviews from previous clients. This is a great resource to find out more about the people you will be working with during your planning time.

BRIDAL SHOWS: Art of Weddings- January 6, 2011~ www.artofweddingspdx.com Art of Weddings show happens once a year and is Portland's premier boutique wedding show. Mingle with Portland's most creative wedding vendors in an intimate setting. Savor culinary delicacies and heavenly desserts. Find inspiration from stunning floral designs and breathtaking photography. Celebrate your engagement in a relaxed atmosphere and walk away with ideas to plan your perfect day. We will see you there!!
Portland Bridal Show~ January 15th and 16th~ www.portlandbridalshow.com The Portland Bridal Show is the largest bridal show in Oregon. Chat with over 150 wedding vendors about your upcoming day as you walk the aisles of beautiful booths at the Convention Center. The show is even complete with multiple giveaways (from yours truly at Skamania Lodge) and stunning fashion shows! See you there!

PEOPLE: The best people to talk to about your wedding are those who work in the industry, such as your wedding coordinators or Catering Sales Managers at your venue. They have done this multiple times and can give you the best advice. Each of your vendors is unique in their knowledge, so tap into the well and extract all that juicy goodness.
