Surprise Your Wedding Guests
One of the many fun things about a wedding is the fact that it is your special day and you can do whatever the heck you want with it. Something that is always fun is to create surprises for your guests. Surprises can come in all shapes, sizes and types, and they create memorable conversation pieces.
Here are a couple ideas to get the creative juices flowing:
- Activities – It can be really fun to give something to your guests that is interactive. One thing that is popular here at the lodge is roasting marshmallows. A great idea is to put together marshmallow roasting kits for each guest. They can then take their kits and go roast marshmallows at their leisure. Activities like this are simple, yet effective ways at breaking out of a traditional affair and giving people new opportunities to hang out and have fun. And who doesn’t love roasting marshmallows?
- Hired help – Most people don’t think twice about hiring someone to handle the music at a wedding, so why not also hire additional people responsible for entertaining? If there will be a lot of kids at the wedding, perhaps have someone who will make balloon animals out of balloons with your wedding colors. It might sound silly, but having someone who can draw caricatures of guests adds an element of surprise and fun! Check in with your wedding planner or a local event planner to see the types of services available.
- Confession booth – If you have watched a reality television program in the last couple of years, you probably know what a confession booth is. But if not, it is an enclosed room where the show’s participants go to share their inner secrets. The way to adapt this for the wedding is to set up a private booth where guests can go and give the bride and groom best wishes – in private. The nice thing about this is when in a more private setting, people tend to be more open and honest, and you may get some messages that you didn’t expect! If you really want to spice it up, put a box with funny hats and masks in the booth and see what happens!
Of course, these are just a few ideas for how to surprise guests with something out of the ordinary. Ultimately, the goal is to have a good time and for everyone to come together for a joyous occasion. Adding some frills like the ones above add a dash of creativity to a wedding and help make the event really memorable.
